Albert VALENTINE

2, Chorley Villas, Prescot

69831, Royal Air Force

Albert was born in Prescot on 8th February 1899, the youngest of five children to Andrew and Priscilla Valentine. The 1911 census listed the family at 10, Warrington Road, with Albert being recorded as a Scholar.

Albert joined the Royal Flying Corps on 31st March 1917, as an Aircraftman 3rd Class, transferring to the newly created Royal Air Force on its creation on 1st April 1918. When he joined, he listed his occupation as 'University Student'.

He served with 49 Training Squadron (TS), stationed at Doncaster, until transferring to 34 Training Depot Station (TDS) at Scampton in Lincolnshire in January 1919, and after a short while he again transferred to 46 TDS at South Carlton, also in Lincolnshire. His occupation was recordced as "Rigger".

He was then moved to Heaton Park on 3rd April 1919 to prepare for discharge.

He transferred to the Class G Reserve on 2nd May 1919. It appears that he did not serve overseas and so had no medal entitlement.

His service is commemorated on the Prescot Parich Church Men's Institute Roll of Honour
