United Reformed Church Memorial
In researching this web site, I found that the URC Memorial went missing when the building was converted into apartments, around 2004/2005. I have enquired with the church authorities as to the whereabouts of the memorial, but it appears to be lost. The Memorial Boards in the United Reformed Church in Aspinall Street contain the names of 5 members of the congregation who fell in the First World War and 2 from the Second World War.
The boards are wall mounted with the inscription and names in relief. The board has a wreath at the top and bottom, and laurel garlands on either side. The inscription above the names reads:-
In Grateful Memory
Of all Who During
Training Came To The
Canteen In The
Adjoining Schools
And Afterwards Died
In Active Service
Also in
Loving Remembrance
Of Those Of This
Congregation Who
Laid Down Their Lives
